My Story

A Passionate Health and Wellness Advocate

About Betty Olayinka Folarin-Akinlosotu (BOFA)

I am Betty Olayinka Folarin-Akinlosotu, an experienced and certified Integrative Nutrition Health Specialist. My passion is rooted in creating a healthier, more peaceful world, beginning with my community. As a holistic health expert, my core mission is to empower individuals to achieve happy, thriving, and emotionally secure lives.

I draw on diverse professional experiences in the education, business, and healthcare sectors. My primary advocacy is simple: Wellness is accessible to everyone. You don’t need to be an RD, RN, or MD to understand the foods that support your health.

My coaching goes beyond the plate. I help clients understand that true wellness—Primary Food—encompasses every aspect of life: our mind, environment, spirit, community, emotions, finances, and career. When we optimize these areas, we enhance our overall quality of life.

As a homemaker and teacher, I deeply empathize with the daily challenges people face. I guide clients to not just create a healthy diet, but to attain a robust life. My personal success in reversing chronic conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, and hemorrhoids through healthy dietary changes fuels my belief in this methodology.

I empower people, particularly women, to recognize their strength and inherent worth, coaching them to understand that they have a choice: to embrace good health and wellness or to opt for sickness. My goal is to provide a safe space for exploration, transforming my clients into experts on their own well-being.

I know you love reading about me, but let’s dive into other things I do.

The Power of Food: My Journey to Wellness Advocacy

My profound passion for wellness stems from a deeply personal realization: food is medicine. For over fifteen years, I struggled with a non-infectious skin condition that profoundly impacted my life and led me down a frustrating path of seeking help from numerous specialists. Despite trying every prescribed medication, pill, and lotion, nothing offered a lasting solution.

The breakthrough came unexpectedly during a routine annual check-up with my OBGYN, Dr. Barbara Gordon. Describing my long-standing devastation over my skin, she looked at me and offered four life-changing words that shifted my perspective forever: “Betty, Change Your Diet.”

Dr. Gordon’s confident assurance convinced me to take a bold, new approach. I immediately committed to her advice: I embraced a healthier diet, increased my water intake, and incorporated physical activity. I began experimenting with colorful, antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables, prioritizing fiber, and swapping unhealthy fats for beneficial oils and nuts.

The results were nothing short of miraculous. My skin cleared completely within three months. This dramatic healing, achieved through a natural, plant-based diet, ignited a new mission. I pursued formal education in Holistic Integrative Nutrition Health. Today, I am an Integrative Nutrition Health Specialist, dedicated to empowering women and vulnerable individuals to reverse various health challenges by harnessing the transformative, healing power of whole foods.

Guess what? You can absolutely do it too, if I can.
